How we help
Sober & Recovery Companion Services
Individualized sober companion support, structure, accountability, and continuity in everyday life.
A clear next step
Support built around the situation.
Sober and recovery companion assignments provide consistent, non-clinical support after treatment or during a period when daily structure is difficult to maintain. A companion works within the client’s established treatment recommendations and written service scope to reinforce routines, appointments, healthy activities, communication, and accountability. Companions support the plan; they do not independently change medications, provide psychotherapy, or replace licensed care.
Get help nowWhat Does a Sober Companion Do?
A companion works within the client’s established treatment recommendations and written scope to reinforce daily life. Support commonly includes:
- Daily routine and structure
- Appointments and meetings
- Exercise and healthy meals
- Sober and healthy activities
- Travel and community re-entry
- Treatment participation
- Accountability and check-ins
- Communication with family and care team
- Recognizing and escalating risk
After Treatment
The days and weeks after rehab can be the most vulnerable. Returning to the same environment, routines, and stressors without support is difficult. A sober companion helps carry the treatment plan into everyday life so early recovery has a foundation to stand on.
Sober Companion Travel Support
Because our team travels, companion support can continue wherever the client needs to be.
- Business travel
- Family trips
- Air travel
- Events
- Relocation
- Treatment transitions
Sober Companion vs. Sponsor vs. Therapist
A sober companion is not a therapist, a physician, or a 12-step sponsor. A companion provides non-clinical structure, presence, and accountability — working alongside, never in place of, licensed clinical care and peer recovery support.
Frequently asked questions
What is a sober companion?
A sober companion is a trained, non-clinical support person who provides structure, accountability, and presence during early recovery or other periods when additional support is needed.
How long does someone use a sober companion?
It varies. Some engagements last a few days around a transition; others continue for weeks or months. The plan is customized to the client’s needs and treatment recommendations.
Does a sober companion live with the client?
Depending on the written scope, companion support can range from daytime hours to overnight or live-in arrangements for a defined period.
Can a sober companion travel with someone?
Yes. Because our team travels, a companion can accompany a client for business travel, family trips, events, relocation, and treatment transitions.
Can companions attend treatment appointments?
Yes. Within the written scope, a companion can support attendance at appointments and meetings and reinforce the plan set by licensed providers.
Does a sober companion replace therapy?
No. A companion never replaces therapy, medical care, or a sponsor. The role is non-clinical and works alongside licensed care.
Can family members receive updates?
Yes. With authorization, family members and the care team receive regular reports within clear boundaries and communication expectations.
